Now days the modern barber is a specialist at giving a sharp hair cut, trimming beards, dye beards for sharper hair definition, give tapes, and provide the customer with professional advice for hair care purposes. The place where a Barber works is usually called a Barbershop, although now Barbers can work out of the commodity of their homes or salons. Barbers are now licensed to dye hair, perm hair, and give facial care. The Barber Trade has been around for years. Recorded history of Razors dates back to Egypt in 3500 B.C. Barbering was introduced in Rome, Italy in around 300 B.C. this created a trend in society for Barber Shops to be a place of gathering where daily news and gossip circulated. Further in history in the 1800-1900 A.D Barbers performed surgical and dentistry procedure. During this period in time surgical and dentistry procedures only involved Leeching, fire cupping, enemas, and the extraction of teeth. After the 1900’s Barbers were no longer allowed to perform surgical procedures and were only allowed to give haircuts, shaves and provide dentistry procedures. The modern Barber has revolutionized the barber trade. Since hairstyles have changed so drastically through time, barbers now use various electrical machines to practice the trade.
